I never had slightest interest in hip hop; zero interest in their artistry; had no idea who is Lacrae until I heard him on The Russell Moore podcast. Christian world is saturated with political garbage, politicians are considered to be mini-gods by far too many christians. Politicians and politics are drug of choice for many Christians today. Just bunch of conformist trying to look good to other conformist.
First thing come to out of the mouth of these conformist are their party affiliations or how their mini-gods politicians who will bring them the utopia to America. My reaction is; “excuse me I rather to go throw up rather hearing about your poliicians and politics”.
Those who are seekers of truth; has no party line affiliation; but seeking Jesus Christ the truth, the way and the life is always a breath of fresh air.
Anyone had courage to walk away from temporary heroes and rebel against popularity of the present always intesersted me. Dead fish go with flow; go along to get along has never my thing, Russell Moore’s conversation to Lacrae was an eye opener. Lacrae’s book “unashamed” and his music: Rebel is a certanly something new for me.
All the political junkies, worshippers of politicians, fame, wealth , power, accomplishment, success, fortune, achievement are all jist castles build on a sand. Next strom, next hurricanes, next landslide, next election cycle; it will all be “gone with wind”. If that is what you are in, you are just a conformist to the culture.
There is a real rebel; His name is Jesus Christ. He didn’t chase power, worshiped politicians, but he kept company with marganized people of his time; tax collectors, prostitutes, people who has hunger for God and truth. All the Pharisees, teachers of religious laws, the establishment and make believe pious peoples hated Him. Jesus Christ was the “real rebel” Rapper Lacrae’s writing and singing about.
Follow Jesus Christ the real rebel; you will find true joy, peace and contentment in your life.
